Afternoon Comments No. 4 reported a series of announcements from 山崎パン, 栄研化学, ゼンリン, シーティーエス, 豊田合成 and ショーケース, including the release of earnings figures, price increases, share buybacks and new functions developed in collaboration with other companies.
Mizuho Securities raised its target price for 山崎パン from ¥4,350 to ¥4,400 and indicated an outlook for ROE to exceed 10% in the fiscal year ending December 2028. Price increases for bread, Japanese-style confectionery and Western-style confectionery in January 2027 were announced at the earnings briefing, and the company was viewed as likely to post monthly sales above the year-earlier level in the third quarter from July onward. Although higher raw material costs are expected to continue into the fourth quarter, the report said that sentiment toward AI-related stocks may improve and that investors may benefit from a tax cut.
栄研化学 extended its decline in afternoon trading, with consolidated operating profit for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 reported at ¥1.59 billion, down 8.2% year on year. The result was affected by factors including the reversal of temporary patent fee income.
ゼンリン plunged in afternoon trading after revising down its full-year consolidated operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 from ¥3.60 billion to ¥2.20 billion. The company swung to a first-half loss, citing a decline in commissioned projects and map data sales following the previous year's increase, as well as higher costs for improving data accuracy.
シーティーエス extended its decline in afternoon trading. Consolidated operating profit for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 was ¥1.55 billion, up 1.5% year on year, below the market consensus. Growth in sales of the digital data service "SAP" contributed, but selling prevailed after the result came in below consensus.
豊田合成 narrowed its decline in afternoon trading. Operating profit on an IFRS basis for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 was ¥38.20 billion, up 16.1% year on year. Revenue increased due to the consolidation of 芦森工業 as a subsidiary and foreign exchange effects, while cost improvements also contributed. The company set a share buyback framework of up to 36 million shares and ¥30.0 billion and disclosed an implementation plan that included funds allocated for employee shares.
ショーケース rebounded after it was reported that the company had added a new data integration function between ProTech ID Checker and kintone. The integration of identity verification data will enable the centralised management of screening and customer information, according to the report.
