RION CO.,LTD. has launched the dedicated NX-43RV program, which adds reverberation-time measurement to sound-level meters. It enables the recording of measurement data, calculation of reverberation time, and verification of result reliability to be performed on site using a single sound-level meter. Previously, analysis on a separate computer was required, but the entire process can now be completed in the field.
The product newly supports the integrated impulse-response method specified in ISO 3382-2 for reverberation-time measurement. Using an origami impulse sound source or similar equipment, reverberation time can be calculated from the decay of acoustic energy without using a speaker or power amplifier. Measurements can also be performed in combination with the interrupted-noise method.
It includes a range of functions to improve measurement efficiency in the field. Automatic measurement can be performed up to 10 times, with results averaged automatically, and up to 40 sets of results can be accumulated at the data storage destination.
Waveform recording can also be integrated. When combined with the NX-43WR waveform-recording program, sound-pressure waveforms can be recorded simultaneously with reverberation-time measurements and used with the AS-70 post-processing software.
Primary applications include room-acoustic evaluation in conference rooms, classrooms, and halls; verification of acoustic performance at completion and before and after renovation; and verification of the effectiveness of sound-absorption measures. Related equipment, including power amplifiers and speakers for the interrupted-noise method, is also available and can be combined into a measurement system.
