Things and AI Librarium announced a business partnership to convert manufacturing-floor knowledge into explicit, structured knowledge and promote the use of AI. AI Librarium will convert key observations and decision criteria into Skills, while Things’ PRISM will store, connect, and utilize them as a digital thread.
Things and AI Librarium announced a business partnership aimed at converting tacit knowledge embedded in manufacturing operations into explicit, structured knowledge and advancing the practical application of AI. The two companies share the goal of combining the ability to formalize knowledge with a platform for storing and utilizing it, enabling AI to support evidence-based execution of operations on the manufacturing floor.
The integrated offering consists of three layers. Things’ PRISM, an AI-Ready Data Foundation, organizes and connects drawings, bills of materials, and other data; AI Librarium provides Manufacturing Skills by converting experienced workers’ key observations into Skills that AI can execute; and AI Librarium provides on-site support through its FDE services.
Under the initiative, the companies will progressively make data AI-ready and convert, validate, and embed experienced workers’ knowledge into Skills across areas including product development, quality control, production, maintenance, and talent development. Over the longer term, they aim to accumulate Manufacturing Skills by area and establish a system in which knowledge circulates between people and AI.
According to the companies, Things will use PRISM to integrate and manage information such as drawings, bills of materials, and quality documents as a digital thread, providing a platform that AI can access. AI Librarium, meanwhile, will convert tacit knowledge into ontologies and Skills, while providing on-site support through FDE services covering proofs of concept, implementation, evaluation, and embedding the solutions into operations.
