KANEMATSU CORPORATION announced that a program-type project jointly developed with TOWING under J-Credit methodology AG-007, “Feeding cattle feed containing feed additives,” had completed registration, making it the first such registration in Japan. The project was approved and registered at the 70th J-Credit Certification Committee meeting. Practical operations for the program are expected to begin within the year.
The registered project aims to reduce approximately 65,000 t-CO2 annually by 2031. KANEMATSU plans to work with TOWING to expand methane reduction initiatives using feed additives through the food supply chain. By converting the resulting reductions into environmental value and supplying them together with the livestock products produced, the companies aim to realize the concept of carbon insetting and contribute to downstream companies’ Scope 3 reductions.
In Japan, a new methodology covering feed additives for cattle was approved in February 2026. KANEMATSU is working with dsm-firmenich to promote initiatives using Bovaer. It aims to improve sustainability in the livestock sector as part of its GX initiatives, including trials involving methane-reduction materials in cattle feed and the provision of environmentally conscious beef internally.
Under its medium-term management plan, “integration 1.1,” KANEMATSU aims to provide solutions that lead the transformation of efficient, sustainable supply chains. In the agricultural and food GX fields, it is promoting GX projects in collaboration with farmers, manufacturers, and a range of other stakeholders involved in sales, processing and retail.
