To prepare for demand for vegetables during disasters, Kagome is expanding production lines for emergency stock products and strengthening its product proposals. The products covered are a long-life vegetable beverage, emergency food and soup, with shipments declining in 2025 due to the impact of the earthquake, while vegetable-rich soup showed growth.
Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, Kagome has provided vegetable beverages free of charge to disaster-affected areas to help address vegetable shortages during evacuation. This latest initiative is intended to strengthen production capacity for emergency stock products in response to demand during disasters.
Kagome offers three emergency stock products through specialist wholesalers, home improvement stores and e-commerce channels: Vegetable One a Day Long-Term Storage, a vegetable emergency food set and vegetable-rich soup. All have a shelf life of 5.5 years from the date of manufacture.
Shipments in 2025 were below the previous year because of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, while vegetable-rich soup grew to 118% of the previous year's level. The long-term storage product, meanwhile, showed a declining trend as a result of the earthquake.
