ファルス株式会社 established Daiwa Mirai Investment Fund 1 in September to invest in seed- and early-stage companies in Japan and overseas. The fund has set out a mission of bringing Japan’s aspirations and capital to the wider world, and aims to create a mechanism for circulating Japanese capital into the real economies of emerging markets.
The fund targets Japan, Asia, Africa, North America and Latin America, and its investment objective is to achieve both the resolution of social issues and the sustainable growth of companies, with a primary focus on four areas: finance, food, healthcare and digital social infrastructure. It employs a hybrid loan-and-equity strategy and, where necessary, will combine this with financing accompanied by stock acquisition rights and other instruments.
ファルス株式会社 said it has previously operated finance and lending businesses in Kenya, Cambodia, Laos and other markets, and has experience managing a cumulative total of 10 loan funds worth more than ¥1 billion. It stated that it will use its local network, deal origination capabilities and risk-management expertise to support the growth of portfolio companies.
The release sets out the background to and overview of the fund’s establishment, disclaimers and company profile, among other information, and states that the fund is considering potential investment candidates.
