Against the backdrop of a weak yen in the Japanese market, Scoot, the LCC operated by Singapore Airlines Group, is expanding its Japan routes. It plans to launch Naha–Singapore service in December 2025 and Haneda–Singapore service in March 2026, pursuing a strategy aimed at sending Japanese consumers out into the world.
As the weak yen and the high barriers to overseas travel persist, Scoot is expanding its routes in the Japanese market, with Naha–Singapore service scheduled to launch in December 2025 and Haneda–Singapore service in March 2026. The airline plans to broaden sales opportunities in Japan and leverage the Singapore Airlines Group network.
Its target market is not limited to younger travelers. Scoot intends to focus on people actively considering travel while also capturing business demand. Alongside offering low fares as an LCC, it expects to serve business trade fair participants and small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to expand overseas.
In sales, Scoot is working with OTAs and travel agencies in addition to using its official website, and has completed its transition to NDC, bringing the adoption rate among partner OTAs to 100%. It plans to broaden its channels by offering ancillary services as well as seats.
Scoot is also focusing on digitalization, having introduced Marvie, its official AI chatbot. It has added support for WhatsApp voice messages and is pursuing a policy of resolving on-the-ground issues digitally.
Scoot has established a structure aimed at serving more than 80 cities and reaching more than 130 cities, while seeking to strengthen short-haul routes in Southeast Asia through the introduction of smaller aircraft such as the Embraer E190-E2.
