Mercari has launched its "Belongings Appraisal" feature, which uses AI to estimate the value of an item from a photograph. After the photo is taken, an indicative price based on transaction data for similar items is displayed. Users can narrow the criteria for a reassessment and proceed from the results screen to prepare a listing.
Mercari has launched its new "Belongings Appraisal" feature. When users take a photograph of an item with their camera, AI estimates its value and displays an indicative price based on transaction data for similar items on Mercari.
After the appraisal, users can proceed directly from the results screen to prepare a listing, and can also narrow the criteria for a reassessment. The feature is completed entirely on a smartphone and is designed to improve the user experience.
Appraisal results are automatically saved to the "Belongings List," where users can manage or delete saved items themselves. A key feature is the ability to centralize the entire process, from photographing and appraising an item through to listing it.
