Musashino University and Hazama Ando Corporation have signed a partnership agreement on well-being research and demonstration projects. The Okinawa Yanbaru region will serve as the demonstration field, with data such as measures of well-being used in regional development and the results ultimately rolled out nationwide.
Musashino University and Hazama Ando Corporation signed a partnership agreement on well-being research and demonstration trials on 4 November 2026. Using the Yanbaru region as a demonstration field, the parties will survey and study the well-being and living conditions of local residents, with the aim of applying the resulting knowledge to regions nationwide facing population decline and aging.
Musashino University opened its Institute for Happiness Research in 2016, established its Faculty of Well-being in 2024, and established its Graduate School of Well-being in 2026. Hazama Ando Corporation, meanwhile, has worked to address challenges facing local communities through construction.
Under the agreement, the parties have already been jointly conducting demonstration projects and have indicated a policy of establishing a regional development methodology centered on well-being, with the aim of rolling it out nationwide.
Going forward, they will organize the results obtained in the Yanbaru region and consider ways to apply them based on the characteristics of the region’s natural environment, culture, industries, living environment and communities. Hazama Ando Corporation will extend the results to architectural and infrastructure planning, while Musashino University will disseminate them throughout society through human-resource development.
