Watanuki Tamisuke (綿貫民輔) took over as president and faced the challenge of rebuilding the business amid a stormy start. In 1955, his grandfather retired as president of Tonami Transport, and Watanuki was entrusted with management as his successor.
In 1955, Watanuki Tamisuke's (綿貫民輔) paternal grandfather, Sakae (榮), retired as president of Tonami Transport, now Tonami Transportation, and Watanuki became his successor. Watanuki took on the role at the age of 28, choosing to take over management of the family business. This marked the beginning of efforts to rebuild the business around the transportation and resource industries of Hokuriku, rather than a base in Iwate Prefecture and elsewhere.
Watanuki was also reportedly involved in establishing Ishikawa Propane in Kanazawa City. Under a policy of focusing exclusively on the restructuring and rebuilding of Tonami Transport, he continued to steer the company.
