TV Tokyo's special feature on News Morning Satellite aired an exclusive interview in which Nippon Steel Chairman Hashimoto (橋本) discussed restoring the company to the world's No. 1 position and the path forward for Japanese companies.
In an exclusive interview for a special feature on News Morning Satellite, Nippon Steel Chairman and CEO Hashimoto (橋本) said that amid changes in the international environment, including Trump's tariffs in the United States and escalating tensions in the Middle East, Japanese companies are being forced to reassess their global strategies, including the rebuilding of their supply chains.
Chairman Hashimoto (橋本) cited Nippon Steel's track record of achieving a V-shaped recovery from its largest-ever loss in two years, explaining that the company had returned as one of the world's leading steel groups. He also discussed the behind-the-scenes efforts that led the acquisition of U.S. Steel and policy recommendations aimed at revitalizing Japan's manufacturing sector.
He expressed the view that the international environment is moving from “liberalism” toward “state capitalism,” and said that Japanese companies need to respond to the reorganization of global markets.
