Following the Bank of Japan's policy rate hike, Soshina (粗品) of Shimofuri Myojo spoke candidly from the perspective of a pachinko player. On the show, he discussed the impact of higher interest rates and the current state of pachinko.
At its Monetary Policy Meeting the other day, the Bank of Japan decided to raise its policy rate as a measure to address rising prices. An explanation was given that, while this would push up banks' deposit rates, it would also affect mortgage rates and the cash flow of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Comedian Soshina (粗品) shared his views, including a message directed at the Governor of the Bank of Japan, on a candid talk show with Kazushige (一茂). While expressing his dissatisfaction from the perspective of a pachinko player, Soshina provided additional comments in response to the reaction.
Soshina expressed the view that “if prices rise, pachinko rates could also increase,” suggesting that playing regularly at the current ¥4 rate could become difficult. On the show, he also discussed how parlors might respond to deteriorating cash flow and pointed out that the resulting burden could fall on customers.
Among the viewer reactions, the smooth shift in the discussion from interest rates and the economy to pachinko became a talking point, and some praised Soshina's perspective as a pachinko player.
