A survey of men and women living in the Kansai region has produced a popularity ranking of set-meal chains. Yayoi Ken ranked first with 14.4% of the votes, followed by Ootoya Gohan-dokoro in second place with 10.6%.
A ranking of the set-meal chains considered the most delicious was published based on 216 valid responses from men and women living in the Kansai region. Yayoi Ken ranked first with 14.4% of the votes, while Ootoya Gohan-dokoro ranked second with 10.6%.
The commentary noted that Ootoya Gohan-dokoro uses regional rice varieties, including a Nanatsuboshi blend from Hokkaido and a Hinohikari blend from the Kyushu area.
The final section of the commentary cited social media posts, including comments calling the restaurant “a godsend if there’s one near home” and praising the value of free rice refills.
The survey was conducted on 5 August 2026 among men and women living in the Kansai region, with 216 valid responses.
