“Boku to Tsuri Nikki,” the first full-scale fishing game released as a Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition, launched on 8 October. The game features motion controls and strategic fishing gameplay involving more than 100 species of freshwater fish.
Imagineer launched “Boku to Tsuri Nikki” for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on 8 October. The suggested retail price is ¥6,578 including tax, making it the first full-scale fishing game released as a Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition. The game was developed by Toybox and produced by its president, Yasuhiro Wada (和田 康宏).
The game is built around reading fish habitats, preparing the optimal equipment and casting toward predicted locations. It aims to recreate the strategy and excitement of real fishing, going beyond the conventional gameplay of casting at visible fish shadows. Its setting includes rivers, lakes and ponds evoking Japan's natural scenery.
The game features more than 100 species of freshwater fish, including sweetfish and rainbow trout, as well as original fantastical monster fish. Its motion-control mode allows players to operate casting and line winding by moving the left and right Joy-Con controllers.
