Pocketalk, a SourceNext subsidiary, is developing a new device with no communications functions and completely isolated from external networks. Pocketalk, a SourceNext subsidiary, is reportedly developing a new device called Pocketalk Z. The new device does not have communications functions and is completely isolated from external networks, allowing it to be used even in places without a signal. It will also support simultaneous translation in more than 20 languages, including Japanese, English and Chinese.
The design is intended to reduce the risk of information leaks, with the absence of external communications helping to prevent data from being transmitted outside the device. The device is scheduled for launch in spring 2027, and the company is said to be targeting demand from corporations and government agencies.
Through the new device, Pocketalk is targeting use in settings where security is a priority, as well as expansion of the market for translation devices that do not rely on external communications.
