As the 5th edition of its Local Food Project, which collaborates with local specialties, あきんどスシロー has announced “Spicy and Savory Katsuura Tantanmen,” supervised by the Katsuura Tantanmen Business Cooperative, and will offer it from the announcement date through the sales period. According to the organizer, the dish features a soy sauce-based soup enhanced with spicy oil, along with the savory flavors of minced meat and onions. The sales period is from 28 October 2026 through 8 November, and sales will end once the product sells out. Prices start at ¥480 and vary by store.
Supervised by the Katsuura Tantanmen Business Cooperative, the product is positioned as an initiative to promote the appeal of Katsuura Tantanmen. Numerous restaurants in Katsuura offer tantanmen under the same name, each with its own distinct flavor, according to the introduction. The collaboration was announced at a presentation attended by 滝口氏 and 平野氏 of the Katsuura Tantanmen Business Cooperative.
Sushiro explained that the project aims to promote the appeal of local areas while creating opportunities to visit Japan’s prefectures. The Katsuura Tantanmen Business Cooperative was established in 2010 by volunteers from the youth division of the chamber of commerce and industry, obtained a regional collective trademark in 2014, and was recognized in 2026 as a 100-Year Food by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. There are currently 36 restaurants in Katsuura offering Katsuura Tantanmen, with different flavors and creative menu variations at each establishment.
