A mural created by the art club of Hikichidai Junior High School has appeared on an exterior wall on the grounds of the Yamato Environmental Management Center. The art club has 25 members, and the mural was reportedly completed on the 17th.
The design was selected from among proposals by the members based on 3 conditions: that all members would participate in creating it, that it would brighten the mood of viewers, and that it would suit the scenery around the wall. The design by second-year student Matsushita Seri (松下琹里) was chosen. It features a river and clouds reflected on the water's surface, with carp as its motif.
The work took approximately 1 month from mid-September to complete. The exterior wall had long suffered from graffiti, and an official at the city's Environmental Management Center said it is scheduled to be used for graffiti prevention measures in the future.
Following completion, Matsushita (松下) expressed hope that visitors would enjoy viewing the mural, while the official expressed appreciation for the students' dedication.
