The event “B Corp 100 Collective Japan: A Future Woven by 100 ‘Challenges,’” was held in Tokyo to announce that the number of companies in Japan that have obtained B Corp certification had reached 100 as of July 2026. A total of 230 people attended both at the venue and online, and the history and future prospects of B Corp certification were shared.
In their opening remarks, the co-representatives looked back on how there had been approximately 15 companies 10 years earlier and announced the publication of the “B Corp Catalog,” which compiles examples from 107 companies. Multiple representatives and experts took part in the talk session, where they discussed the need to connect individual companies’ initiatives to change across society as a whole.
The discussion highlighted the need to rewrite the rules, including financial and investment standards, shareholder primacy, business practices and evaluation criteria. Examples included initiatives by the L’Occitane Group, codesign methods and the translation of 3P goals into targets, underscoring the movement’s expansion.
To promote collaboration and raise awareness, 9 companies from the first B Dojo cohort gave pitches, and examples of collaboration with LIXIL and ecosystem-building with other companies were introduced. The outlook for the next 10 years calls for concrete action through collective collaboration and greater awareness across society.
