SI, a semiconductor market research company, published its top 20 global sales ranking for the second quarter of fiscal 2026, based on earnings information from publicly listed semiconductor companies. The top 20 included many companies showing strong growth against a backdrop of expanding AI demand, with the average quarter-on-quarter growth rate across the group at approximately 33%.
Three Japanese companies ranked in the top 20. Kioxia ranked 8th, Sony Semiconductor Solutions 17th and Renesas Electronics 19th, with changes in ranking from the previous quarter. Kioxia rose to 8th place in particular.
Excluding AI-related companies, Qualcomm declined while Intel increased, among other movements, and the companies' third-quarter outlooks were generally trending higher quarter on quarter. Among memory-related companies, Micron, Kioxia and Sandisk were expected to post high growth rates.
Double-digit growth is also expected in 2027. Although AI growth is expected to slow, the overall market is forecast to continue growing, supported by the stability of the automotive and industrial equipment markets. Over the longer term, SI expects the market to move past the peak of the AI boom and transition to sustainable growth.
