RIKEN VITAMIN CO.,LTD. and プチプチ株式会社 jointly developed a masterbatch using recycled raw materials. It will be introduced for use in some products from April 2026, and an overview was presented at the 17th Highly Functional Material Week.
RIKEN VITAMIN CO.,LTD. and プチプチ株式会社 announced that they had completed the joint development of a masterbatch containing recycled raw materials. A masterbatch is a pelletized modifying agent that incorporates a high concentration of functional additives into plastic and can be used directly. The purpose of this initiative is to further increase the proportion of recycled raw materials used in プチプチ products.
The masterbatch developed will be used in some of プチプチ株式会社’s bubble cushioning material products, “プチプチ,” from April 2026. At the same time as the announcement, an overview and related products were presented at the company’s exhibition booth at the 17th Highly Functional Material Week, held at Makuhari Messe.
プチプチ has achieved a recycled raw material ratio of 98%, and converting the masterbatch that adds antistatic properties to recycled raw materials is considered essential to further improving the recycling rate. This joint development is positioned as part of the company’s efforts to promote a circular economy.
The company stated that it would continue contributing to the realization of a sustainable society through the development of products and technologies that help reduce environmental impact.
