The Nikkei 225 extended its decline in the TSE morning session on the 15th. Risk aversion intensified against a backdrop of expectations for a Fed rate hike and higher crude oil prices, spreading selling to AI and semiconductor-related stocks.
The Nikkei 225 was weak in the Tokyo stock market around mid-morning on the 15th, down approximately ¥2,500 from the previous day and trading in the ¥65,200 range. The decline exceeded ¥2,600 at one point, as investors adopted a more risk-averse stance.
As risk aversion spread, selling increased, particularly in high-priced stocks, with semiconductor-related stocks notably lower. Advantest, SoftBank Group and Tokyo Electron, three representative stocks weighing on the Nikkei 225, together dragged the index down by more than ¥1,400.
As of 10:00, estimated trading value on the TSE Prime Market was ¥2.7625 trillion, while trading volume was approximately 771.84 million shares. Among individual stocks, Fujikura, TDK and SCREEN were lower, while Bandai Namco Holdings, Astellas Pharma and Secom were trading higher.
