Yakult Honsha announced that it will sell the Yakult Toda General Ground in Toda City and its ancillary facilities to Taisho University. The agreement was signed on 19 October 2023, and handover is scheduled for April 2027.
The aging player dormitory and limited space at the facilities were cited as reasons for relocating the Tokyo Yakult Swallows' minor-league facilities to Moriya City in connection with the sale. The sale price has not been disclosed.
A new minor-league base, Swallows Wings Square, is scheduled to open in Moriya City in March 2027.
The assets to be sold include the stadium, athletics track, rugby field and clubhouse. After the sale, the athletics track and rugby field will continue to be used jointly by Yakult Honsha's sports clubs and Taisho University.
