WELLNET CORPORATION has begun offering OEM electronic money and local money using its proprietary electronic money platform and identity verification technology. Municipalities and regional organizations can develop electronic money under their own brands and establish systems to support benefit payments and payments within the local economy.
WELLNET CORPORATION, based in Sapporo, Hokkaido, announced that it will begin offering OEM electronic money and local money using the electronic money platform and authentication technology of 支払秘書, its digital payment service. This will enable companies to develop electronic money under their own brands, while municipalities and regional organizations will be able to operate local money that supports benefit payments, payments and circulation of money within the local economy.
WELLNET CORPORATION will offer these new services as part of its policy of expanding a secure and reliable digital money platform nationwide. The company indicated that it intends to use the platform not only for conventional payment functions, but also as a point of ongoing engagement with users.
The company emphasized the security provided by FPoS identity verification technology. FPoS combines the Japanese My Number Card's public personal identification services with terminal-issued certificates, helping prevent fraud and impersonation without using IDs and passwords or SMS authentication. The technology was implemented in 支払秘書 in July 2025.
WELLNET CORPORATION has had no officially identified cases of fraud or misuse since 2020 and plans to incorporate FPoS into its OEM electronic money and local money offerings as well. Going forward, the company aims to pursue collaboration with private-sector companies, municipalities, transportation operators, healthcare providers and educational institutions, while providing services tailored to each individual and improving UI/UX through the use of AI.
