カウネット appointed its President and Representative Director as CLO and announced plans to pursue logistics reform as its top management priority. It also disclosed multiple initiatives, including bringing forward same-day delivery and reviewing its operating procedures. In addition, it announced the completion of its newest facility, Tohoku IDC, and the timing of its operational launch.
カウネット appointed its President and Representative Director, Miyazawa Noritomo (宮澤典友), as CLO (Chief Logistics Officer), making clear its commitment to logistics as a top management priority in line with the government’s logistics reform policy. It also explained that the appointment was intended to fulfill its responsibilities as a shipper.
Logistics reforms already implemented by the company include bringing deliveries forward through a service allowing customers to choose same-day delivery, which shifted approximately 36% of shipment volume to next-day delivery and eased delivery concentration during peak periods; raising the order threshold for the company to bear shipping costs to ¥3,500 or more; and introducing a Web order cancellation feature to reduce waste. These measures are intended to reduce workloads at logistics sites and improve efficiency.
The company also outlined a broad range of initiatives, including leveling and consolidating purchases through the カウ得!ポイントUPカレンダー points promotion calendar and べんりねっと procurement platform, reducing handling workloads by promoting palletized inbound deliveries, making docking times more visible and equitable through a berth reservation system, and reducing CO2 emissions and truck capacity used through joint deliveries with companies in other industries.
Tohoku IDC is scheduled to begin operations in October 2026. The facility will introduce next-generation material-handling equipment from Hitachi, Ltd., with the company expecting a substantial improvement in warehouse productivity, storage capacity of up to 270,000 SKUs, and a reduction in inventory-counting work. Efforts to promote AI demand forecasting and inventory optimization will continue, with the aim of reducing stockouts and improving consolidated deliveries.
