Srixon has announced its new ZXi series, adding the ZXi7, ZXi5, ZXi5+ and ZXiU to the lineup. The ZXi5+ in particular is positioned as a distance-oriented iron for athletes, with enhanced distance, and initial testing showed a high ball speed.
Srixon has announced the ZXi7, ZXi5 and ZXi5+ as its 3 2027 models, along with the ZXiU. A new ZXi4 model was not included in this announcement. Rather than being a derivative of the ZXi5, the ZXi5+ is positioned as a players-distance iron with further enhanced distance, and is being promoted as a distance-oriented iron for more advanced, athletic players.
The key features of the model range include i-FORGED, which focuses on improving feel at impact, and MAINFRAME iQ, which optimizes face design. The ZXi7 uses one-piece-forged S15C soft carbon steel, the ZXi5 combines multiple materials, and the ZXi5+ is designed with stronger lofts to deliver both distance and forgiveness. An announcement of the Japanese-specification ZXi5+ is pending, while details of the US specification are being released.
Testing of the ZXi5+ 7-iron, with a loft of 29.5 degrees, showed an average head speed of approximately 34.4 m/s and a ball speed of approximately 51.0 m/s, along with a carry of 168 yards, a total distance of approximately 179 yards, average spin of around 4,100 rpm, a peak height of approximately 24.7 m and a landing angle of approximately 43 degrees. These figures have been cited as a basis for assessing whether the distance is genuinely usable.
