OPPO Japan has announced the OPPO Reno16 5G, a new smartphone for the Japanese market. It features the most compact 6.3-inch display in the current lineup, with its smaller form factor positioned as its defining feature. Positioned as a separate model from the previous Reno14 5G, it is designed for users seeking higher performance.
Domestic sales of the OPPO Reno16 5G will begin on 17 August at ¥89,800. It is expected to be available through the official online store and will also be offered by SoftBank under its “SoftBank Free Style” program. The phone will be available in Pop White and Twilight Purple, while the accompanying official case, the “OPPO Reno16 Magnetic Case,” will go on sale for ¥2,480.
The display is smaller than that of the previous Reno14 5G, shrinking from 6.6 inches to 6.3 inches. A 6.3-inch display is considered compact for a smartphone in 2026. The phone also features SnapKey near the top of the left side, which can be assigned functions such as taking photos and launching the voice recorder.
The phone does not support Osaifu-Keitai mobile wallet services, but it is equipped with NFC and supports contactless credit card payments. As with the previous model, accessories that work with magnets, including cases advertised as MagSafe-compatible, will also be released.
