Nara Prefecture conducted a general competitive tender for the redevelopment promotion project for the prefectural central wholesale market in Yamatokoriyama, and selected a corporate group led by Daiwa House Industry as the successful bidder. The winning bid was announced as ¥40.084 billion, against a scheduled price of approximately ¥40.08534 billion.
In addition to Daiwa House Industry, the JV includes Kume Sekkei Osaka Branch, Fukumoto Sekkei, Wesco Nara Office, Muramoto Construction and Yahagi Construction. The facilities will consist of 3-story buildings, including a new administration-related building and a new market building housing fruit and vegetable and seafood facilities.
The project will use the BT (build-transfer) model, under which the private sector will design and build the facilities before transferring ownership to the prefecture. The contract is scheduled to be concluded following approval by the prefectural assembly in December, with the new market targeted to open in fiscal 2031 and the overall project targeted for completion in fiscal 2033.
