BMW's Japanese subsidiary has launched the partially upgraded 7 Series. The design features a larger kidney grille, while hybrid and BEV variants have been introduced to the Japanese market.
BMW's Japanese subsidiary launched a partially upgraded version of the flagship-size 7 Series sedan on 29 October 2026. The model is an update to the current seventh-generation 7 Series and is being introduced as the second model to incorporate Neue Klasse technology.
The exterior adopts a new design language, with the kidney grille enlarged further. The rear has been redesigned, including the tail lamps and bumper.
The interior features a 17.9-inch centre display for the driver and a 14.6-inch BMW Passenger Screen for the front passenger. An optional 31.3-inch BMW Theatre Screen with 8K support is available for the rear seats and deploys from the roof.
The lineup is broadly divided into the hybrid 740 Series and the BEV i7 Series. The latter is equipped with a 113kWh drive battery and has a WLTC range of 686km-706km per charge.
Highway Assist is standard, enabling hands-free driving on motorways under certain conditions. The new-vehicle price is ¥16.83 million for the hybrid and ¥18.52 million-¥23.30 million for the BEV i7. Highway Assist will become available from November. It will be free of charge for 3 years, after which a subscription to a flat-rate service will be required.
