KRフードサービス will introduce mottECO (Mottekō), an initiative encouraging customers to take leftover food home, at Kagonoya, Azusa Coffee and other locations from 1 October 2026. Dedicated containers will be subject to a fee, and the participating brands and locations include all locations as well as certain specialty restaurants.
KRフードサービス, a group company of KRフードサービス, will launch mottECO (Mottekō), an initiative to reduce food waste, at all Washoku Shabu-Shabu Kagonoya and Azusa Coffee locations, as well as its specialty restaurants. The initiative will begin on 1 October 2026 (Thursday) under the Ministry of the Environment's mottECO rollout support program, for which it was selected.
The participating brands and locations are all Washoku Shabu-Shabu Kagonoya locations (excluding SAPA), all Azusa Coffee locations, and each specialty restaurant (excluding GOCONC). The dedicated container will cost ¥50 (¥55 including tax).
mottECO, whose slogans are "more eco-friendly" and "let's take it home," is an initiative that allows customers to take uneaten food home in a dedicated container at their own responsibility. It aims to reduce food waste and plastic waste. The initiative is being promoted as an effort that directly contributes to source reduction, based on a policy that prioritizes source reduction among the 3Rs.
The initiative was selected for the Ministry of the Environment's FY2026 mottECO rollout support program, and implementation and awareness activities are expected to continue at each location. This will support food-waste reduction through takeaway, subject to the use of dedicated containers and compliance with hygiene-management guidelines.
