The Russian president signed a decree placing the Russian operations of Japanese companies under temporary administration. More than 100 Japanese companies are said to have operations in Russia, bringing the risks to business continuity into sharp relief.
Russian President Vladimir Putin (プーチン) signed a decree on the 5th placing the Russian operations of Japanese companies, including Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT), under temporary administration. The decree was published on the Russian government's online portal, meaning that the expropriation of management rights, previously targeting European companies, has now extended to Japanese companies as well.
The decree covers the Russian operations of Japanese companies, including JT International (JTI), the overseas subsidiary responsible for JT's Russian business, once again highlighting the risks to business continuity in the country. More than 100 Japanese companies are said to have operations in Russia.
