KGK共同技研化学, which manufactures and processes adhesive tape and specialty films, has announced plans to install a new coating production line at its head office plant in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture. The investment is intended primarily to meet growing demand for high-performance adhesive tape, increase production capacity and strengthen business continuity planning (BCP). The total investment is expected to be approximately ¥50 million.
Operations on the new line are scheduled to begin in October 2026, ramping up production of solvent-free waterproof airtight tape and environmentally friendly protective tape, which help reduce environmental impact. High-performance adhesive tapes for the automotive and semiconductor industries are also expected to be produced on the line.
The equipment is expected to increase annual production capacity by approximately 700,000 square meters and annual sales by approximately ¥500 million. Other expected benefits include strengthening the supply system for environmentally friendly products, ensuring stable supply and further enhancing BCP. The company will strengthen functional coordination with its Tomioka Plant and establish a supply system spanning multiple sites.
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand by utilizing land around its Tomioka Plant in Gunma Prefecture. It positions the expansion of the head office plant as the first phase and aims to strengthen supply capacity through continued capital investment.
