Osaka Metropolitan University announced that a nickname bearing the name of 新来島サノヤス造船 would be given to a self-study space at its Nakamozu Campus. The contract runs from 25 September 2026 to 24 September 2029.
Osaka Metropolitan University and 新来島サノヤス造船 entered into a naming rights agreement and announced on 23 October 2026 that the self-study space on the first floor of Building B4 at the Nakamozu Campus would be given the nickname "Shin Kurushima Sanoyas Space." The contract runs from 25 September 2026 to 24 September 2029.
The announcement forms part of the university's naming rights programme, under which facilities such as classrooms and cafeterias are given nicknames that include corporate names, as in the other naming rights arrangements involving 大島造船所 and ヨドコウ. 大島造船所 is responsible for the "Learning Commons" on the first floor of Building B4 at the Nakamozu Campus, while ヨドコウ is responsible for "YODOKO Sakura Dining" at the Morinomiya Campus.
The examples involving 大島造船所 (Saikai, Nagasaki Prefecture) and ヨドコウ were cited as arrangements whose agreement start dates came earlier. The cafeteria at the Morinomiya Campus is covered from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2029, and naming rights also apply to spaces outside that campus.
Public University Corporation Osaka has stated that it aims to improve the educational and research environment by obtaining naming rights fees from partner companies after changing facility names to nicknames incorporating corporate names.
