Mitsubishi Estate Home and JGC participated in the Serendie Sprint workshop. Following an initial meeting on Day 0, they held a 2-day workshop and then moved into 3 months of full-scale co-creation.
This article covers Mitsubishi Estate Home and JGC’s participation in Serendie Sprint, a workshop provided by Mitsubishi Electric. After Day 0, which also served as an initial meeting, the workshop was held over 2 days before developing into 3 months of co-creation. Both participating companies shared their own challenges and technologies and explored ways to create new value while incorporating external perspectives.
During the ideation stage, emphasis was placed on an approach of “putting ideas forward first, even if they may be wrong.” The workshop was designed to lower the barrier to speaking up, with an emphasis on collaboration across professional roles and organizational positions. Participants reflected that incorporating external perspectives enabled them to generate ideas beyond the limits of their conventional thinking and gain insights they could not have reached on their own.
They have now entered a 3-month scrum program to develop the ideas, combining the 2 companies’ expertise and technologies to shape service concepts with a view to commercialization. The aim is to make the first initiative a success and connect it to a continuing series of co-creation projects, including a second and third initiative.
JGC aims to create new businesses with a view to community development centered on health, within an organization that provides one-stop services ranging from hospital redevelopment consulting to design, construction and operational support. The session was highly regarded for its structure, which openly shared challenges and led to concrete proposals combining technologies. Going forward, the company aims to deliver data-driven value connecting hospitals and local communities.
Through the collaboration between Mitsubishi Estate Home and JGC, a vision is emerging for creating community hubs that support local health, as well as optimizing hospital operations through new technologies such as AI. The direction indicated is to differentiate from other companies through package proposals based on the integration and analysis of data.
