Imari City has formally signed an agreement for a Singapore company’s first data centre project in Kyushu. The company plans to begin operations in 2030, using approximately 135,000 square metres of an industrial park to create jobs.
Imari City recently signed an agreement to establish a presence with DayOne Data Centers Japan, headquartered in Singapore and engaged in the development and operation of data centres. Under the agreement, the company will proceed with plans to build and operate its first data centre in Kyushu in Imari.
The city acquired approximately 135,000 square metres of an industrial park in Imari and expects operations to begin in 2030. Employment at the start of the project is expected to total approximately 60 to 80 people, which is expected to contribute to the revitalisation of the local economy and the promotion of industry.
Akira Okada (岡田聡良), a director of DayOne Data Centers Japan, said the company wanted to steadily advance the project through continued dialogue with local residents and contribute to industrial promotion and regional development in Imari. Imari Mayor Fukaura expressed his expectation that the city would make every effort to ensure the project proceeds smoothly.
