NEXCO West Japan’s Kansai Branch will implement nighttime closures and all-day lane restrictions on sections of the E26 Hanwa Expressway and E24 Keinawa Expressway. Every night from 20:00 to 6:00 the following morning, multiple sections will be closed and lane restrictions will be in place, and drivers are being urged to use the detour route information.
As part of the Expressway Renewal Project, NEXCO West Japan’s Kansai Branch will implement nighttime closures between Izumisano JCT and Wakayama IC on the E26 Hanwa Expressway and between Wakayama JCT and Iwade-Negoro IC on the E24 Keinawa Expressway. The nighttime closure hours will be from 20:00 to 6:00 the following morning every day, with all-day lane restrictions also in place on sections of the route. Drivers are advised to check the latest traffic information before departing.
The specific sections and schedule for the nighttime closures are expected to comprise combinations of 4 nights, 2 nights and 9 nights. The detailed dates are expected to include 24–28 November 2026, 30 November–2 December and 2–15 December, with some sections including Saturdays and Sundays during the closure period.
A detour guide and a table of estimated travel times are also provided, directing drivers to local roads as detours. Travel times on the expressway are expected to vary by route, with differences in shorter and longer routes, and estimated distances and travel times are provided for both directions toward Wakayama and Osaka.
Traffic congestion is possible, particularly on weekends, because of the all-day lane restrictions. Drivers are urged to check traffic information in advance and avoid congestion.
The construction work includes removing concrete bridge decks and installing new decks, pavement repairs, road maintenance, and removing overhead sign structures.
