Doosan in South Korea announced plans to invest approximately KRW 970 billion in total in South Korea and overseas to expand CCL production for AI data centers, with the new lines scheduled to begin operations sequentially from 2028 onward. It also disclosed plans to cancel all of its treasury shares, worth approximately KRW 3 trillion at market value.
Doosan announced that it will invest a total of KRW 970 billion in South Korea and China to expand production capacity for copper-clad laminates (CCL) used in AI data centers. The investment comprises approximately KRW 420 billion in South Korea and KRW 550 billion in China, will be carried out in stages over the 3 years through 2028, and the new lines are scheduled to begin operations sequentially from the second half of 2028.
In South Korea, Doosan will expand CCL lines for optical modules and leverage advanced technology and personnel at its Korean operations, while in China it will build a new plant for CCL used in AI accelerators and network switches. The move is intended to diversify production locations based on product characteristics and the flexibility required to serve customers.
The expansion is intended to meet the sharp increase in CCL demand accompanying the expansion of AI data center investment, while Doosan's production lines in South Korea are already operating at a high utilization rate. Doosan's revenue exceeded KRW 1 trillion in 2024 and reached approximately KRW 1.9 trillion in 2025, up 86% year on year.
On the same day, Doosan announced that it had decided to cancel 2,568,528 treasury shares. The shares have a market value of approximately KRW 3 trillion, and the company plans to cancel all remaining treasury shares except those allocated for employee RSUs. This will reduce the number of shares outstanding and could increase value per share.
