The Indonesian Research Institute held an international symposium on wood-related industries in Jakarta in collaboration with ウノサワエンジニアリング and the Indonesian Plywood Association. Discussions focused on innovation in material handling technology, promoting sustainable forestry and strengthening Japan-Indonesia cooperation.
The Indonesian Research Institute, ウノサワエンジニアリング Co., Ltd. and the Indonesian Plywood Association (APKINDO) jointly held the “Material Handling Innovation for Wood-Based Industries Symposium 2026” at the Millennium Hotel Sirih in Jakarta on 23 July 2026. The symposium aimed to improve the efficiency of wood processing and close gaps in the supply of raw materials.
ウノサワエンジニアリング shared the latest material handling technologies and its experience in improving the competitiveness of wood-related industries. The symposium provided a forum for Indonesian government agencies, academic institutions, industry associations and business representatives to strengthen the industry through knowledge and technology sharing. Emphasis was placed on sustainable forest management, modernized material handling systems, manufacturing transformation, and stronger Japan-Indonesia research and technology cooperation.
The following sessions featured presentations by government agencies and cross-industry panel discussions. Representatives of Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry and Ministry of Industry, as well as experts from BRIN, discussed sustainable industrial systems and the role of technological innovation. The panel included representatives of APKINDO, INA-TAPPI, INA-affiliated experts, universities and energy companies, who exchanged views on biomass, energy supply chains and sustainability. A session introducing Japanese engineering methods was also held after the closing of the symposium.
Approximately 100 people attended the event, which was covered by Japanese and Indonesian media, including the Jakarta Shimbun, Media Indonesia and TribunNews. Going forward, cooperation among APKINDO, BRIN, the Ministry of Forestry, the Ministry of Industry and ウノサワエンジニアリング is expected to be strengthened, expanding opportunities for technology cooperation and innovation.
