Aplix's subsidiary SMC has entered into a business alliance with Misora Connect and will begin jointly rolling out prepaid eSIMs using a full MVNO platform. The first initiative will provide services for visitors to Japan and short-term domestic users.
Aplix announced that its subsidiary Smart Mobile Communications (SMC) had entered into a business alliance agreement with Misora Connect in the mobile communications business. SMC will begin handling communications services using the full MVNO platform provided by Misora Connect.
As the first initiative under the alliance, the companies will jointly roll out a prepaid eSIM service for visitors to Japan and short-term domestic users. Amid expectations that the number of visitors to Japan and related spending will reach record highs in 2025, the service will target increased demand for communications during stays, as well as short-term needs for business trips and events.
The alliance covers 4 areas: handling of full MVNO lines, joint rollout of prepaid eSIMs, reciprocal supply of communications services, and cooperation in IoT and M2M. SORACOM holds 51% of Misora Connect and Marubeni I-DIGIO Holdings holds 49%. Aplix is also a certified partner in SORACOM's partner program, SORACOM Partner Space.
The companies plan to combine the group's platforms for development, communications, sales, and BPO with Misora Connect's communications platform and expand cooperation across a wide range of areas, including mobile communications for businesses and IoT and M2M.
