Disney Animation’s new film “Billy and the Beginning of Magic” released its Japanese trailer and poster on 5 November 2026. The film opens on 4 December, one month from now, and depicts the scene introducing Hex, the kingdom where the story takes place.
The official announcement confirmed that Mei Hata (畑芽育) will voice Billy and Toma Ikuta (生田斗真) will voice Beef, the three-eyed cat. Beef’s full name is “Beef Roger Clamchuck,” and the role marks Ikuta’s first voice-acting challenge.
The trailer depicts Billy, a high-school student who wants to be ordinary, awakening to dormant magical powers and being led to Hex. The fact that Billy is the only one who can fly is central to the trailer, while the ending of the story has not yet been revealed.
The short film “Lilo & Scratch,” which will be screened alongside the feature, is a completely new short receiving a theatrical release for the first time in 23 years. It begins with Lilo welcoming a mysterious cat named Scratch. Both films will be shown on 4 December as a double feature.
