USD/JPY fell to the mid-¥153 range last week as yen strength prevailed. The U.S. CPI matched market expectations, and the yen strengthened. Today, the order book shows heavy buying around ¥152 and ¥153, and heavy selling around ¥155 and ¥160.
USD/JPY was under pressure from yen strength last Friday, with the closing rate moving in favour of the yen from the previous day. After the U.S. CPI matched market expectations, the dollar initially strengthened immediately after the release, before the yen took the lead. The decline in the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield was also cited as a factor behind yen strength.
In today's (14 September 2026) technical analysis of USD/JPY, the order book indicates heavy buying around ¥152 and ¥153, while selling orders were observed around ¥155 and ¥160. These levels are therefore said to be attracting attention as support and resistance.
Over the past 24 hours, USD/JPY showed strong positive correlations with EUR/JPY, GBP/JPY, AUD/JPY and EUR/USD, while GBP/USD and AUD/USD showed strong inverse correlations.
