JFE Holdings published its IFRS consolidated results for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027. The return to profitability in the steel business and higher revenue and profit across all segments stood out, suggesting an upward revision to its full-year plan.
In JFE Holdings' IFRS consolidated results for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, revenue was ¥2.4004 trillion, up 7.5% year on year, business profit was ¥76.7 billion, up year on year, profit before tax was ¥70.6 billion, and interim profit attributable to owners of the parent was ¥53.7 billion. The weaker yen and improved operations contributed to substantial increases in revenue and profit overall. By business segment, the steel business benefited from price revisions and gains on inventory valuation, returning to profitability from a loss, while the engineering and trading businesses also secured higher revenue and profit. The expansion of projects in the environmental field and the shift in the earnings structure toward high-value-added fields also progressed.
On the financial front, total assets expanded to ¥6.1672 trillion, while cash and cash equivalents stood at ¥181.7 billion. The company maintained its interim dividend of ¥40 and full-year dividend forecast of ¥80, aiming to balance a stable financial base with growth investment. The company revised its full-year forecast upward, projecting revenue of ¥4.9 trillion, business profit of ¥195 billion and profit for the year of ¥130 billion. Meanwhile, continued attention is considered necessary regarding cost increases resulting from the prolonged situation in the Middle East and fluctuations in supply and demand for steel materials.
