Kindai University and IWATSUKA CONFECTIONERY CO.,LTD. are launching 2 new Fuwatto flavors and 1 renewed Aji Shirabe product developed jointly. Fuwatto will be launched at Seven-Eleven stores from 9 November, and Aji Shirabe will be launched sequentially at stores nationwide from 26 October.
Kindai University School of Business Administration and IWATSUKA CONFECTIONERY CO.,LTD. advanced product development, including new flavors, as the third phase of their industry-academia collaboration project. Students were involved from the planning and tasting stages through to package design and promotion.
Two “Zaku-Zaku Satisfaction Fuwatto” products, adding a crunchy texture to Fuwatto, were developed in Nori No-ri and Lemo Lemo Lemon Pepper flavors. The flavor profiles reflect feedback from tasting sessions held on campus, and the packages feature students’ photographs and messages.
Meanwhile, “Aji Shirabe Serious Dashi Flavor” is a renewal of “Aji Shirabe Kansai-Style Dashi Flavor,” launched in 2025. It contains 4 types of dashi with a hint of yuzu pepper, comes in a 70g package, and is priced at around ¥260. It will be launched on 26 October and sold at supermarkets, drugstores and other outlets nationwide.
The companies plan to strengthen promotions such as social media campaigns and factory tours, and to continue developing new products and promotional ideas drawing on students’ perspectives. Comments from students describing the value of product development and the lessons learned through practical experience were also introduced.
