According to a research report published by Houlihan Lokey, the construction, logistics and temporary staffing industries, including logistics, maintained higher revenue and profit in the first quarter of fiscal 2026. Price revisions, inventory trends and increased M&A activity are affecting the industries.
On the 6th, Houlihan Lokey published a research report on results and M&A trends in the construction, logistics and temporary staffing industries for the first quarter of fiscal 2026. In the logistics industry, the shortage of drivers and rising costs have accelerated the integration of companies into major groups, and large-scale domestic and overseas restructurings have also been announced.
Across the logistics industry, higher freight rates resulting from the situation in the Middle East, along with progress in price revisions and transport efficiency, contributed to a continued trend of higher revenue and profit overall. The corporate logistics sector for trucking in particular performed well, as freight volumes increased due to inventory stockpiling and advance shipments, as well as moves to switch to major providers amid surging crude oil prices.
Although various cost increases are expected to continue pressuring profit in fiscal 2026, the industry as a whole is still expected to post higher revenue and profit. Upward revisions have also been announced following strong first-half results, and M&A activity is expected to increase further, particularly to secure talent related to essential workers and strengthen specialist areas.
