At its earnings briefing for the third quarter of the fiscal year ending September 2026, MicroAd announced that overseas business had doubled both sales and gross profit, while net income surged to approximately 5.4 times the previous year. Progress against the full-year targets also remained high.
Rapid growth in the overseas consulting business was highlighted as the primary driver of earnings growth. Overseas business sales rose 101% year on year, while gross profit increased 107%, driven by the expansion of IPmixer IP collaboration products and demand for cross-border marketing. In addition to inbound business, outbound business and support for Japanese companies expanding overseas also grew. As a new initiative, MicroAd began selling collaboration products with London's National Gallery in more than 10 countries.
For the nine months ended December, key metrics were sales of ¥14.441 billion, gross profit of ¥4.489 billion, operating profit of ¥862 million, ordinary profit of ¥768 million, and net income attributable to owners of the parent of ¥585 million. Net income therefore increased sharply by 543.7% year on year. The gross margin improved by 0.9 percentage points year on year to 31.1%, and the company explained that results were also affected by the recording of a ¥35 million foreign exchange loss.
By segment, Data Product Services generated sales of ¥7.931 billion, up 14.4% year on year, while Consulting Services generated ¥6.510 billion, up 37.1%. Data integration between the company's own platform and third-party platforms expanded, and the alternative data business secured high yields. The company also advanced the horizontal expansion of its data platform business as part of its new business structure.
The company positioned the issuance of ¥2.2 billion in CBs and its AI Factory initiative as the next growth strategy, and plans to issue convertible bonds with stock acquisition rights through a third-party allotment. The AI Factory is planned to establish GPU clusters and an AI agent platform centered on the company's own data centers, with the company emphasizing the cost advantages of operating infrastructure in-house. Regarding M&A, the company said it was considering multiple transactions, with a focus on synergies with the AI Factory.
The full-year outlook was left unchanged, with progress at 81.2% for sales, 84.1% for operating profit, 80.7% for ordinary profit, and 86.3% for net income. The previous operating profit target of ¥1.5 billion was described as having "come within reach," and the company indicated that it would disclose its next medium-term plan with its full-year results in November.
