紀伊國屋書籍販売 announced that it will participate in judging for the Keio Corporation and indent “Station, City and Future” Short Science Fiction Story Contest. As a wholly owned subsidiary of its parent company, the Kinokuniya Bookstore Group, it will handle judging and selection of the Future Award.
The contest is being organized by Keio Corporation, which is responsible for redevelopment of the Hashimoto area, to solicit science fiction works depicting the stations and cities of the future. The contest seeks works that express unconstrained visions of the future using the concept of science-fiction prototyping. Entries must be set in approximately 2050 to 2100 and must feature a station.
紀伊國屋書籍販売 will continue to support the initiative by judging the entries and selecting the “紀伊國屋書籍販売 Future Award.” The judging panel will include Ikezawa Haruna (池澤春菜), Aiba Shin (饗庭伸), Miyamoto Michito (宮本道人) and others, with Miyamoto Michito (宮本道人) also scheduled to supervise the contest.
The application guidelines provide for an application period from 20 October 2026 to 12 January 2027 at 23:59, and require entries of approximately 4,000 Japanese characters. The prizes comprise 1 Grand Prize winner (¥50,000), up to 5 Special Prize winners (¥10,000 each), and 1 Future Award winner (a ¥10,000 bookstore gift card).
