Ukrainian-owned companies in Poland are surging in number and strengthening their economic influence, particularly in construction, wholesale and transportation. Regulatory changes could determine the pace of growth going forward.
Ukrainian-owned companies are expanding rapidly in Poland, with approximately 27,000 now operating in the country. These companies are concentrated mainly in construction, wholesale and transportation, which together account for more than one-third of the total. Construction is expanding in response to demand for labor and subcontractors, transportation and logistics support essential economic functions, and wholesale underpins the stable flow of goods between markets.
Ukrainian companies account for approximately 28% of foreign companies in Poland, giving them a significant presence among foreign investors. This reflects high levels of entrepreneurial activity and a trend toward relocating businesses.
Competition is intense in certain sectors, forcing Polish companies to reassess their pricing strategies and optimize costs. At the same time, the positive effects include job creation and increased tax revenues.
Going forward, the pace of growth could depend on developments in the legal and regulatory framework, and new restrictions could be introduced on company formation and business operations by foreign nationals.
Ukrainian-linked businesses remain an important component of the Polish economy and are expected to continue growing depending on how the regulatory framework is designed.
