NEC announced its September 2026 interim results. Revenue rose 11.7% year on year to ¥1.7538 trillion and net profit increased 59.9% to ¥116.4 billion, with strong IT services and defense-related businesses leading to an upward revision to its full-year outlook.
NEC reported revenue of ¥1.7538 trillion, up 11.7% year on year, and net profit of ¥116.4 billion, up 59.9%, for the September 2026 interim period under IFRS. IT services and social infrastructure-related businesses remained firm, supported by increased digital investment and strong defense demand. Steady cybersecurity-related services and the contribution of U.S. software company CSG, which became a consolidated subsidiary in May, also contributed to the increase in revenue.
The IT services business captured demand from domestic companies for system upgrades, while CSG's higher revenue and profit lifted the overall result. Revenue in the aerospace and defense business rose 19.4% to ¥235.2 billion against a backdrop of strengthened defense capabilities. Revenue in the business handling submarine communications cables and other products surged 80.3% to ¥55.3 billion, turning profitable.
Following the strong performance, NEC raised its full-year forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027. Net profit is expected to reach a record ¥310 billion, up 10.8% year on year, after being raised by ¥20 billion from the previous forecast.
These results show that strong performance in the IT and defense fields supported overall earnings growth.
