T. Hasegawa has built a cooperative relationship over many years with the Green Shiso Producers' Cooperative in Engaru, Hokkaido, and established a stable supply system for 100% natural shiso essential oil. The company says this will improve the stability of supply as a fragrance raw material.
The company explains that its “shiso essential oil” is extracted from shiso grown in Engaru's cool climate, clear air and fertile soil, and is characterised by a fresh, natural fragrance reminiscent of crushed leaves. Going forward, it plans to expand applications beyond food and beverages to household goods fragrances, including fabric softeners and air fresheners.
Rather than limiting its involvement to procurement, T. Hasegawa says it will work with the Engaru producers' cooperative to provide ongoing support to strengthen the production base, including the provision of seeds, technical assistance, support for quality improvement, packaging materials and other supplies, and business continuity support.
