EDMI has begun demonstration tests by installing its smart meters at customer sites supplied with electricity by CREC, with the aim of entering the US market. The announcement was made on 23 October 2026. The demonstration will compare the meters with products from other companies.
Investment in next-generation AMI 2.0 is reportedly expanding in the US market in response to accelerating data center construction and rising electricity demand associated with advances in AI. EDMI opened a US office in 2025 and has indicated plans to conduct demonstrations with multiple electric utilities during fiscal 2026.
EDMI also plans to begin developing NEOS, a next-generation smart meter compliant with the US ANSI standards. The company is expected to assess the business potential in fiscal 2027 and, if it determines that profitability is sufficient, complete development of solutions for the US market in fiscal 2028 and launch full-scale sales activities.
