A partial solar eclipse will be visible in Switzerland on the 12th, with the Moon expected to cover 91–93% of the Sun at its maximum. Viewing conditions will depend on the location and the quality of the view.
The eclipse visible from Switzerland will be partial. It will begin at around 7:20 p.m. local time and end at around 8:45 p.m., before sunset. The peak is expected between approximately 8:15 p.m. and 8:20 p.m., when the Moon is expected to cover almost the entire Sun.
The Swiss Astronomical Society expects that an eclipse of similar scale will not be visible again until 2075, with the percentage obscured varying from 91% to 93% depending on the location in the country.
Historically, this will be the first time in 27 years that a partial solar eclipse of similar scale has been visible in Switzerland, since 1999. The last total solar eclipse occurred in 1842, and the next is expected on 3 September 2081.
In addition, the Perseid meteor shower is expected to peak from 12 to 13 August.
